From redundancy to resilience

Hey Reader,

A few weeks ago, I found out my position as an Executive Assistant with an International company was being made redundant. I definitely didn’t see it coming. But after the dust settled, I reminded myself of something I often say to my clients: focus on what you can control, not what you can’t.

I couldn’t control the redundancy. But I could control my response. I could choose to panic and fall into a negative mental loop, or I could take the energy and move it into something exciting and forward-looking.

Fast forward to today, and I’m stepping into a whole new chapter as a Remote Executive Assistant. I’m building something of my own, where I can bring my skills, focus, and adaptability to support leaders and businesses who want to spend less time in the weeds and more time on what matters most.

So here I am, facing big changes, and feeling more excited than ever about the opportunities ahead.

If you’re going through a shake-up of your own, I encourage you to pause and ask:

  • What’s outside my control?
  • And more importantly, what is within my control?

Often, that’s where the growth and the best surprises come from. And yes, I know that's so much easier said than done. So if you could use some help in finding what's in your control, reach out to me!

And if you’d like to see what I’m up to next, my newly updated website is live, and you can see it by clicking here. I’d love for you to check it out!

Here’s to new beginnings, resilience, and the power of focusing on what we can control.

Hey Reader, Last week we talked about the grooves we slip into that keep us circling the same routines. Have you’ve identified one you’re feeling stuck in? You don’t need a giant leap to break free. Most of the time, a rut starts to crack with the smallest shift. It happens to mountains, to boulders, and to us. Your challenge for this weekDo one thing differently. It doesn’t matter how small. Take a new route to work, try a different coffee order, start a conversation you’d usually avoid, or...

Hey Reader, There are seasons in life when it feels like you’re walking in circles. The same thoughts, the same conversations, the same Monday mornings that blend into each other until you wonder if time is actually moving. Ruts sneak up on us. They feel safe and normal, until you wake up one day and realize you haven’t moved forward in months. I’ve been working on this topic for a bit, and it became more personal today. I’ve been in a “comfortable” rut with work for awhile, and this morning...

Hey Reader, Tonight I’m doing something that scares me a little. It’s my first aquathlon - an 800m swim followed by a 5k run. I’ve done multiple long-distance events. I’ve swum much further. I’ve run much further. I’ve even done both in the same day with a long ride in the middle. But this has my stomach doing flips. Why? Because it’s new. And because I’ve gotten comfortable in the distances and formats I know I can do. And let’s be honest, it’s also easier to hide being slow when you have...
